European Week Celebrations in Shkodra

Shkodra’s Festival of Flowers

Hosted by the Municipality of Shkodra, this event was dedicated to the young artists of the city and attended by the EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and EU Member States Ambassadors from Croatia, Italy, Romania, Slovenia and Spain.

Bicycle ride around Shkodra lake

Around 300 participants joined the bicycle ride from the old Buna bridge cycling around Shkodra lake to Shiroka town and back. Participants included young people from Shkodra, cycling enthusiasts from various associations, professionals from cycling federation, other members of the local community, EU Member States Ambassadors and staff members, EU Delegation staff members and Europe House team members. After reaching the finish line, participants were greeted by the famous actor Zyliha Miloti, EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and Shkodra Mayor Voltana Ademi. Celebrations continued with music, entertainment, traditional dance and plenty of food and drinks.

“There is no better place than Shkodra to start Europe Week, a celebration of Europe, as one of the oldest European cities in this part of the continent,” said Ambassador Vlahutin as she addressed the bikers at the finish line.

Discussion with students from University of Shkodra

250 students from University of Shkodra and the rector Adem Bekteshi hosted the EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin and EU Member States Ambssadors from Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Romania, Spain and Sweden. Discussions were lively and covered various topics including EU integration reforms, education, justice reform as well as the youth’s role in the European Integration process in order to bring EU standards to Albania.

“The process can’t happen without your involvement. You should never get tired of demanding that EU standards are brought and implemented in Albania. Demand, ask, push and don’t give up,” said Ambassador Vlahutin.
