Women in Albania are well represented in political and economic bodies but they have lower income and earnings than men. This is one of the findings of the first Gender-Equality Index in Albania presented today at Europe House.
“The EU is strongly committed to promoting gender equality, and women’s and girl’s empowerment. Albania has made positive progress in the process of adopting better laws for gender equality. We need to work together with the central and local government, civil society and other partners to strengthen the policies for gender equality and their real implementation.”, said Mario Mariani, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Albania.
