How to reduce littering and the use of plastics was the topic of our first debate part of TodayforEnvironment campaign organised at Europe House. Young environmental activists, students, academia and representatives from plastic-free businesses had a passionate debate. EU funded projects in Albania presented actions that bring together two of the EU priorities: bringing recycling to Albania and strengthening the participation of citizens in policy-making. To fight plastic pollution the European Union has decided to make the use of plastics more circular, but also to ban single-use plastics which are unnecessary or for which we have perfectly fine alternatives.
“Beyond regulatory changes, we can individually change the way we live and change the way we use plastics. Great to see and hear many young Albanians already doing that and discussing how to protect the environment by reducing the usage of plastics,” said EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca.
